Terms of Use

Pre-release draft · Last updated August 18, 2026

This is a pre-release draft

OtoShelf is still in development and has not begun general distribution or sale under these terms. Regions, price, provider information, governing law, and other required terms will be finalized before release.

1. Current status

This document is a draft of the terms intended to apply to OtoShelf at release. The internal development build implements and verifies read-only Drive browsing, folder and individual import with hierarchy preservation, playback, explicit offline save, video-to-audio-only conversion, artwork and metadata refresh, duplicate-save prevention, and local deletion without changing Drive originals. Live Google consent/My Drive/real-media/reconnect/relaunch E2E and physical-device audio/background/codec checks are reported complete for the tested device; restricted-scope verification, security assessment, and signed archive Privacy Report/App Store disclosure reconciliation remain open. Build 11 is available only for internal TestFlight testing; it is not a public or general TestFlight release, and Google OAuth approval is not implied. The app is not generally available.

2. Agreement to the terms

After release, purchasing, downloading, or using OtoShelf is intended to constitute acceptance of the final terms and Privacy Policy. Do not begin using the app if you do not agree.

3. Service

OtoShelf is developed as an iPhone music player for audio and video that you are legally entitled to use. The internal build can browse Drive read-only, import folders or individual tracks while preserving hierarchy, play selected media, save explicit offline copies, convert video sources to audio-only offline results, refresh artwork and metadata, prevent duplicate offline saves, and delete local data without modifying Drive originals. These capabilities are internal development verification and are not a promise of public availability until the release gates are complete.

Our launch plan is a paid, one-time purchase with no monthly fees, ads, subscriptions, or in-app purchases. Actual price, regional availability, and purchase conditions will be shown on the App Store.

4. Requirements

  • Google Drive is currently the only supported file source. You must place supported audio or video files in Google Drive before connecting OtoShelf; direct import from iOS Files, iCloud Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, NAS, or other sources is not supported at this stage.
  • You must provide a supported iPhone and iOS version, network access, a Google account, and permission to access the relevant Google Drive content.
  • You must maintain enough device storage and a suitable network connection for offline downloads.
  • Google Workspace or other administrator policies may prevent a connection.
  • Some media may remain unplayable because of its codec, DRM, corruption, or other conditions, even when the file type is generally supported.

5. Rights in your music and the app

You must own the necessary rights or have appropriate permission from the rightsholder for every file you browse, play, or save with OtoShelf. You may not use OtoShelf for unlawful copying, distribution, transmission, or infringement.

Rights in music that you lawfully own or are licensed to use do not transfer to OtoShelf. Purchasing OtoShelf through the App Store does not transfer copyright in the app itself; it grants a right to use the app under Apple’s terms and these terms.

6. Prohibited conduct

  • Violating law, a court order, or public policy
  • Infringing copyright, privacy, or other rights
  • Bypassing or modifying authentication, communication, or safety controls
  • Placing an excessive load on the app or services
  • Distributing malware, exploiting vulnerabilities, or gaining unauthorized access
  • Analyzing, redistributing, or modifying the app beyond what applicable law permits

7. Google Drive

Google Drive is currently the only supported file source. OtoShelf plans to use read-only Google Drive permission for files you place there and explicitly choose. It will not create, upload, update, move, rename, copy, delete, or change permissions for Drive files. A deletion action in the app targets only local data on your device.

Google Drive is a third-party service provided by Google and remains subject to Google’s terms, privacy policy, specifications, and usage limits. OtoShelf does not imply a warranty or endorsement by Google or Apple.

8. Changes, suspension, and availability

Before release, features may change, Google Drive integration may be omitted, or release may be cancelled for safety, legal, technical, external-service, or review reasons. Internal builds, uploads, or test distribution status do not constitute public availability or a promise of general TestFlight access. After release, features may be temporarily suspended or changed for maintenance, failures, or security work.

9. Warranties and liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, OtoShelf does not guarantee fitness for a particular purpose, playback of every format, uninterrupted availability of third-party services, or error-free operation. Keep important originals backed up separately.

Except for intentional misconduct, gross negligence, or circumstances where liability cannot legally be limited, the scope and limit of liability will be finalized before release based on the sale terms and applicable law. Nothing in this draft limits statutory consumer rights.

10. Changes to these terms

These terms may be revised when laws, features, or review requirements change. Material changes will be posted here with an updated date. Before release, this draft will be replaced with final terms that include provider details and sales conditions.

11. Governing law and jurisdiction

Governing law, jurisdiction, and consumer-protection disclosures for each sales region will be added after the provider and sales regions are finalized and before release.
